It is with sincere gratitude for Christian Science that this testimony is written. Before I married in 1911, I had been a medical nurse. My husband was a Christian Scientist and asked me to read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I did this, and I am most happy that I accepted Christian Science. We started to read the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly on Sundays with some loving neighbors who were Christian Scientists, as there was at that time no church or society near us. From this beginning there developed, and now is, an active Church of Christ, Scientist, and a Reading Room in that village.
At the births of my daughter and son, the understanding of God's presence and His sustaining truth was of great help. When the boy was four years old, he was healed of infantile paralysis. At the time my first husband passed on, so much love and consideration were shown me that I knew I had found the pearl of great price in Christian Science. Through the years there have been many trials, but with the help of Christian Science I have been sustained, and many times serious conditions have been prevented.
Some of the healings that I have experienced are thqse of eczema, sprained ankle, bone felon, severe burns, and an inharmonious condition of the eyes. At the time of my hospital training I was told that I would always have to wear glasses. Early in my reading of Science and Health the glasses were discarded without an}' specific prayer on my part. I have not worn them for at least thirty-six years, and I am most grateful for this healing.
