It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I acknowledge the healings and blessings which have been mine over a period of many years through Christian Science.
Following the advice of a physician who declared that only Christian Science could free me, I turned to it for help. I had already undergone two abdominal operations for a difficulty which was causing such severe pain that it had completely incapacitated me. Experiencing no relief, I tried various other means, including chiropractic treatments and osteopathy, but nothing brought me freedom or relief.
I reluctantly consented to have help from a Christian Science practitioner. When I picked up "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy for the first time, I turned the pages at random, and suddenly the following words on page 230 caught my attention: "If sickness is real, it belongs to immortality; if true, it is a part of Truth. Would you attempt with drugs, or without, to destroy a quality or condition of Truth?" It occurred to me that if the sickness and pain which troubled me were fixed facts, if they were genuinely true, I could not hope to be freed from them. However, I read further on the same page, "But if sickness and sin are illusions, the awakening from this mortal dream, or illusion, will bring us into health, holiness, and immortality."
