My gratitude for Christian Science is too...

From the August 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My gratitude for Christian Science is too great to be expressed in words, but I feel I should share some of the blessings which this religion has brought into my life.

I was a healthy girl in my teens at the time Christian Science was presented to me by a friend, and my first reaction was a desire to save my friend from having anything to do with it. I knew nothing at all about this religion, but blindly believed it to be wicked. My mother, who had passed on some years previously, had given me a wonderful grounding in the teachings of the Bible, which I loved, and in order to point out to my friend what I thought was false teaching I began to investigate Christian Science. I found that it was not false teaching, but the truth. An article which I read in a copy of the Journal explained to me the words I had read in the Bible but had not really understood: "God is love," and, "God is a Spirit." The realization that I had found the truth was wonderful.

Although I was willing to accept Christian Science as a religion, I could not believe that it healed physical difficulties, and I stubbornly refused to listen to the testimonies given at the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. However, because my desire was to do right, it was not long before I was shown my mistake in a most wonderful way.
