I am grateful for this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science and for having been raised in this truth with the accompanying privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School. I have experienced many healings, including those of colds, periodic pain, headaches, depression, and extreme homesickness. Also I have had protection from seasickness and from fear during a severe storm at sea.
Some time ago I became troubled with a chest condition accompanied by pain and great difficulty in breathing. My fear increased when this condition did not yield, but rather intensified. Help was lovingly given by a practitioner, and although my fear gradually yielded, the physical problem itself clung tenaciously.
The practitioner advised me to work from a standpoint of seeing the unreality of human birth and parentage, and as I worked along this line it became increasingly clear to me that I had been depending too much on my human parents for guidance and help in Science. I realized that I had been allowing my father, a Christian Science practitioner, to do nearly all the work, while I had been content merely to hold a phrase of truth in mind and wait for his efforts to bring the healing. Never had I actually done any diligent studying of my own.
