When I was a young girl I would watch...

From the January 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I was a young girl I would watch Christian Scientists pass my home on their way to church. The love and joy in their faces made a very deep impression on me which I never forgot.

Several years later, when I was suffering from what the doctor said was sciatic rheumatism, for which he was unable to help me, I started to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist, and began to study the LessonSermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. I was healed of the sciatica so beautifully that I did not know exactly when the healing occurred, but I suddenly realized one day that I was free. That has been over thirty years ago, and the healing has been permanent.

At the same time I was healed of chronic sore throat and of spells of depression, during which I felt that there was no light or joy anywhere on earth. For the benefit of those just beginning the study of Christian Science, let me say that I did not understand the letter of Science at first, but I felt a great sense of its healing love, and by persisting in my study I received my healing. Since that time I have had many other healings, including those of nervous indigestion, chronic constipation, the necessity for wearing glasses, torn ligaments in an ankle, broken bones, and faults of disposition.
