Central in the teaching of Christian Science is the fact that whatever anyone needs under any conditions not only for his safety, but for his genuine and enduring satisfaction, is available for him. The fact is fully explained in Christian Science, and it is continually proved through this Science in the overcoming of lack of various kinds—lack of health, opportunity, capability, suitable relationships, peace, joy, and other desirable things and conditions—the overcoming having often occurred when it had seemed impossible.
The basic truth involved in this teaching and the resulting experiences were indicated by Christ Jesus when he said (John 10:30), "I and my Father are one." The statement read in the light of Christian Science points to the unity of all men with good, which is not limited in either quantity or quality. For in this Science, the Father, or God, is understood to be infinite good, ever-present divine Mind, Life, and Love, as the Scriptures imply, and the real selfhood of every-one is understood to be a direct and unlimited expression of Him. Each of us, Jesus was saying in effect, is one with the Father, and therefore not subject to limitation.
Jesus' own career, it can readily be seen, was one continuing proof of this truth. When food seemed lacking, the Master supplied it for others as well as himself. When harmony and peace seemed far away and unattainable, as it did to the disciples in the storm on the Sea of Galilee, he proved them to be at hand. In countless cases where sight or speech or other manifestations of health seemed absent, he brought them to light. Even when life seemed to have gone, he restored it.
