A JOYOUS TREATMENT

From the September 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The giving of a Christian Science treatment is not only a sacred occasion, but a joyous one. What could be more joyous than to be conscious of God as divine Principle and of man as God's precious idea, ever governed, directed, and protected by His loving care, and to see the resultant healing?

Christ Jesus at one time sent out seventy disciples to teach and heal. We read (Luke 10:17), "The seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name." Jesus replied, "Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." No doubt Jesus appreciated the disciples' accomplishment, but he knew that it was more joyous to understand that their names, or real natures, were like God's nature, spiritual, perfect, and eternal.

The writer was greatly blessed when she saw that her real self was an idea of the divine Mind and that mortal mind, with its false beliefs of sin, sickness, and death, was a dream. Through this Christlike understanding she knew that her life was eternal and that she had never lived in matter. This brought about an immediate healing of an advanced case of pernicious anemia.
