The Way of Gethsemane

From the September 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dread not to tread the solitary path;
Love has passed through before you, triumph-crowned.
Gird you with peace, and follow, shod with faith
To find that where you walk is hallowed ground.

Fear not to wear the pure and seamless vesture,
The true consistency of perfect being;
Concede no portion of man's spiritual nature
To compromise with mortal sense's seeing.

Shrink not, but drink the cup of brave endeavor,
For thus you also share the morning meal;
Turn from old toils, and set your face forever
To follow Christ in ways that love and heal.
