The teachings of Christian Science reveal the spiritual fact that one may immediately become conscious of God's healing power and presence. These teachings show that actually there are no barriers of time or space that can delay for an instant the healing power of infinite Mind. "Now," declared Paul, "is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (II Cor. 6:2). And John tells us (I John 3:2), "Now are we the sons of God."
The mighty works of healing which were accomplished by our great Teacher, Christ Jesus, were quickly made manifest to meet the human need. The word "immediately" is frequently used to describe these healings by the writers of the Gospels. We read that immediately the leper was cleansed, a fever was cast out, an issue of blood was stanched, a woman bowed together was made straight, an impotent man who had had an infirmity for many years was made whole and walked, and the blind received their sight. The element of time was not a factor when the healing ministration of the ever-present Christ was felt by the suffering heart.
Speaking of the ever-availability of the healing Christ to meet the human need, our beloved Way-shower said (John 14:12), "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." The same healing power that was utilized by our great Exemplar is as available today as it was then to meet every human need. Instantaneous healings are a present possibility when the truth of God and man is understood.
