"Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matt. 6:33). During the seven years in which I have been a student of Christian Science, I have had many healings through studying the Bible and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When my son introduced me to Christian Science, I said, "If it agrees with the Bible, I will study it and see what it is."
He replied, "It explains the Bible in such a way that you can understand man's relationship to God." He bought us the textbook and said: "The religion you have now is only half a loaf. If your family were hungry and if someone were to lay down a whole loaf of bread and then were to lay down half a loaf, you would take the whole loaf. That is Christian Science. You get the whole truth." Then I began to study the Bible and the textbook together.
My first healing occurred in a short time. While visiting on a farm, I stepped into a deep hole in the tall grass and sprained my ankle. My daughter called a practitioner, who told her to read to me the first chapter of Genesis. As she read, my consciouness was illumined. The pain stopped, the swelling disappeared, and the discoloration went away. I got up at once and walked, grateful that my foot was completely healed.
