With great love and humility I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for all that it has done for me and mine for many years. As a young girl I started attending a Christian Science Sunday School at my mother's recommendation. She had read a few copies of the Christian Science Sentinel and felt that we would find in Science a peaceful, harmonious religion and a better sense of friendship. We purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and a Christian Science Quarterly and began studying the Lesson-Sermons in the Quarterly. In a short time my brother commenced to study with us also.
My father was the only one in the family who had not accepted Christian Science. He was suffering severely as the result of two accidents, which had affected both sides of his body. The doctor had said that the only thing that would help was an operation. Not willing to submit to this, he went on without any help. I asked him why he did not try Christian Science treatment, since it could not hurt him and we had every reason to believe that it would heal him.
Two days later he went to see a practitioner. After telling her why he was there, he stated that he had no faith in Christian Science. She replied that he must have had some faith in it or he would not be there. When he arrived home, about two hours later, he was well. Not only had the condition in his sides been instantaneously healed, but also another physical difficulty which he had twenty-five years was gone. For the first time the family attended church together.
