"A really grateful heart cannot remain silent." This quotation from an article entitled "Gratitude Heals" which appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel of December 2, 1950, expresses my sincere feeling. I am grateful for the testimonies printed in the Christian Science periodicals and also for those given at the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. A testimony of mine appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel of November 15, 1952, and again I want to express my gratitude.
When my brother was in grade school, he broke his arm. The family was not notified, and the school doctor set the bone. The next morning my brother slipped into a ditch filled with water, and the water warped the soft wood splint. He said nothing about the incident, and when the splint was removed the arm was crooked.
The school doctor said that unless the bone was broken and reset, my brother's arm would be crippled for the rest of his life. However, my father refused to allow it to be reset and said that we would rely wholly on our understanding of God as taught in Christian Science. I do not recall just when the healing occurred, but later, when the same doctor examined my brother in connection with his scouting activities, he was amazed to see a perfectly straight arm.
