WHAT IS CHRISTMAS?

From the December 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WHAT is Christmas? Through the teachings of Christian Science we find that Christmas might be understood as a divine state of consciousness, wherein Christ, Truth, has come to the understanding, dispelling the errors of material sense and replacing them with the realities of divine Science. Christ, the true idea of God, comes not at any specific time or season other than at the time when the human heart has yielded to divine persuasion and has gladly received infinite Love's tender and enlightening messages.

Christ is always awaiting the attentive ear of mankind, always in readiness to be welcomed in. No matter how manifold the demands, Christ is adequate to meet every emergency, to satisfy all right desires. Christ reveals to each receptive heart the truth of God, the one Mind, His allness, and matter's consequent powerlessness, nothingness, unreality.

That God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent; that man is His perfect spiritual idea; and that His universe is perfect and harmonious is the repeated glorious anthem of the Christ.
