"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." Is this statement by Mary Baker Eddy (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Pref., p. vii) an encouragement to relax without making any active spiritual effort? Surely not. A day big with blessings is one of lively interest and full of good purpose.
Such a day is one in which to enjoy the blessings that come from utilizing our God-given abilities. This is God's day. It makes no difference how we number it. In Ecclesiastes we read (3:15), "That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past." Man lives in God's eternal day, a day of forever unfolding good.
It is encouraging to learn from the teachings of Christian Science that God is unaware of mortal time and its limitations. Man, God's reflection, is not finitized as to age and abilities. A realization of this truth frees mortals from the temptation to accept the material belief that man is useful for a certain number of years only. The truth is that man's real life is eternal, without beginning or end.
