I was a registered medical nurse when I was led to Christian Science and was completely healed of tuberculosis. The most capable doctor in the hospital where I had been working said that I had only about three to six weeks to live unless surgery were performed, in which case I was not assured health, only a more comfortable state until the end. He suggested that I go to a group of experienced doctors in a larger hospital handling only such cases as mine. After a series of X rays, they confirmed the previous doctor's diagnosis.
I was very much alarmed, and at once I went to my minister. He gravely said that I must not fight God's will, but must prepare myself to pass on. A minister of another large church was contacted. He reminded me that those doctors were outstanding; therefore it must be God's will that I should not live.
When I returned home, I felt so distraught that I could hardly answer the telephone when it started ringing. But how happy I am now that I did! A friend, on hearing of my situation, recommended that I see her grandmother, who was a Christian Science practitioner. I went to her grandmother and was welcomed with much love. After listening to my story, she assured me that God is Love, that He makes all, and that He gives man dominion, as the Bible states in the first chapter of Genesis. She added that all I needed to do was constantly to remember these truths and trust in God as the loving Father, who does not send sin, disease, or death.
