Christian Science was presented to me many years ago by a friend in the office where I worked. I doubt that what she said at the time would have made much impression if she had not also followed the admonition of the prophet Isaiah (35:3, 4): "Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold your God will come ... he will come and save you."
She took me to Christian Science church services and lectures, gave me the periodicals, explained to me the work of Christian Science practitioners, and encouraged me to press on, which I did. Later I joined The Mother Church and a branch church. My decision to accept Christian Science I regard as the most important one of my life. The study and application of this Science have resulted in untold benefits to me.
The sudden passing of my husband when my three daughters were small was an almost overwhelming blow. I shall never cease to be grateful to the kind practitioners who helped me at different times through this period. I saw that I was cherishing much wrong thinking, such as resentment, rebellion, and self-pity. Slowly but surely I began to drop the burden which was making my lot so heavy.
