Poems

Inspiration

From the January 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Cut through cables of self-will anchoring
To earth, with trenchant stroke of gratitude.
Spread faith's ardent wing
And thrust
Through cloud-ceiling
Of fear to higher altitude
Of quiet trust
And wait on God; resting
In Truth, as birds rest, poised in space,
Borne on unseen currents,
Upward surging.
Then, at Mind's impulsion, let thought mount in praise,
Heavenward soaring,
Beyond earth-pull and mortal density,
Into rarer atmosphere of Soul's inspiring—
To full vision of divine reality.
Let consciousness ride free
And range wide
In clear heaven of Love's infinity.
