That a correct sense of true being in its richness and eternality may be gained through an understanding of God is indicated in these two memorable statements of Christ Jesus (John 17:3): "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent," and (John 10: 10), "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
Unenlightened world thinking is a striking example of the truth contained in Mary Baker Eddy's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 548), "Earth has little light or joy for mortals before Life is spiritually learned." The material sense of life, with its complexities, frustrations, and deferred fulfillment of mankind's most cherished hopes and aims, leaves little cause for rejoicing. This material sense of existence also carries with it the conviction that all things have a beginning and most often a doleful ending.
Those instructed in Christian Science have learned that Life is God and that all the qualities and attributes which constitute the eternal Godhead are the qualities and attributes of Life itself.
