ENLARGING THE BORDERS

From the December 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In a challenging passage in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, enumerates the practical advantages possible to businessmen and scholars through a demonstration of this Science. She writes (p. 128): "A knowledge of the Science of being develops the latent abilities and possibilities of man. It extends the atmosphere of thought, giving mortals access to broader and higher realms. It raises the thinker into his native air of insight and perspicacity."

Many a student of Christian Science, pondering this passage, has been enabled to break through self-imposed barriers of mediocrity, prejudice, fear, ignorance, and limitation to a clearer sense of infinity, opportunity, and wisdom.

The various limitations that would hinder Christianly scientific progress often seem hard-set in false education, but Christian Science bids the student reject these limitations as unreal. God is infinite Mind, and man is God's perfect expression. On this basis one questions the validity of all limiting fears and doctrines, sees their falsity, asserts their powerlessness, and claims divine dominion as the present fact.
