THE TRUE STANDARD OF NORMALCY

From the March 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

PEOPLE want to be normal. They want their children, their health, their living conditions, their businesses, their human relationships, to be normal. In the usually accepted sense, "to be normal" means to conform to the customary rules and standards which have been established in human experience.

In Christian Science "to be normal" means to be perfect, to express the unerring law of God, divine Mind. There is only one perfect Mind. Man, individually, possesses this Mind through reflection, and therefore he is perfect, normal.

Mary Baker Eddy in her work of revealing Christian Science to humanity reasoned from the basis of the facts of perfect creation as set forth in the first chapter of Genesis and of Christ Jesus' healing of all types of abnormality. She concluded that God, the divine Principle of perfection, order, and harmony, governs the universe, including man.
