Through the study and application of Christian Science, many opportunities are provided to emulate the healing power of the master Metaphysician, Christ Jesus. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us (Science and Health, p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." This dependence solely on God for help resulted in my having an instantaneous healing.
In my business as a chemist in an electroplating plant, it is necessary for me to handle many strong and corrosive chemicals. One day I dropped a pail containing a powerful cleaning fluid. A great deal of this material splashed into my eyes. I fell to the floor blinded from the effects of the cleaner.
My first thought was to call out for help, but I quickly realized that I did not want the help of medical science, which this call would most certainly bring. My next thought was to call out for a friend in the next department, who is a Christian Scientist. This thought was also rejected. I saw clearly that help, no matter how loving it might be, could not come from a person. My need was to establish in consciousness the presence of the healing Christ, which alone could heal me.
