I have been so blessed and encouraged through reading testimonies of Christian Science healing in our periodicals that I feel I should share with others some of the healings I have experienced in the past five years since taking up the study of this Science. My healings include those of constipation, arthritis so severe I had not slept lying down for eighteen months, diabetes, ptomaine poisoning, overweight, and many others. Criticism, condemnation, the tendency to flare up in anger, resentment, self-pity, and hate—all of these lying witnesses against God and man were recognized as evil and ruled out of my thinking.
I had been placed on a very strict diet and, on doctor's orders, had taken insulin for over ten years. Through a friend I learned that a Christian Science practitioner had come to live in our mountain village and that Christian Scientists were meeting informally for services.
Some time later I asked the practitioner to call to see me. When I explained my difficulties to her, she told me she would be glad to give me Christian Science treatment but that I must rely wholly on God and give up all material remedies, including insulin. She lovingly urged me to begin attending the Wednesday evening testimony meetings and Sunday services.
