I want to share with those who seem to be dwelling in the valley of despair an account of the joy, health, and freedom which have come to me through the study of Christian Science. Prior to my study of this Science, I was always sickly, and I suffered from great fear, which made it impossible for me to be at peace with myself or with anybody around me. Then Christian Science came into my life like a ray of light, and I gained more and more confidence in God; and through the understanding of the Christ, Truth, I was healed of serious physical disorders and other problems.
I have proved these words from the Bible to be practical and demonstrable today (James 5:15): "The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."
About twenty-six years ago I suffered from what the doctors called stomach cancer, and I was told that nothing could be done for me. At one time I lapsed into unconsciousness and appeared to be passing on. My wife called a Christian Science practitioner on the telephone. Her compassion and understanding penetrated my consciousness, and that very evening I was able to get up.
