In turning to Christian Science, I sought...

From the July 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Turning to Christian Science, I sought the Comforter which Christ Jesus promised. I was not seeking a physical healing, but as a result of my study, I was healed of a nervous breakdown.

It was in the thirties, at the time of the so-called depression. My sister was very ill, and I had been living apart from the one dearest to me. There was very little work or money, and the way seemed dark and without hope. But with the few gleams of light which Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy provided me and with a growing trust in our heavenly Father, I was able to overcome the temptation to believe that suicide was the only way out.

How truly I was led through the darkness of mortal belief, step by step! At one time I had my family to support, and when I had only five dollars left and all avenues for supply seemed to be cut off, I just sat down and prayed. I tried to surrender fear and mere human planning completely and prayed to know how to trust more in Love's provision. The immediate result was a telephone call offering me work, which led eventually to the career I have followed ever since.
