Today, amid world upheavals, humanity is asking these vital questions: Where is there any permanent security or stability? How can civilization survive the destructive forces of our times? Indeed, mankind at grips with the world, the flesh, and the devil cries out, "Save, or we perish." What, then, is the great need of the hour? What is the power which provides an unshakable foundation for the reign and rule of divine righteousness, for the demonstration of peace and unity on earth?
The meekest and mightiest man who ever lived, Christ Jesus, revealed the perfect solution to the problems of humanity. In his great mission for mankind he encountered and stayed the currents of the carnal mind, with all its claims of violent and destructive forces. But he looked for no human way of escape. He sought neither life nor health in the body, nor did he depend upon prestige or money for security. When he placed the preservation of his life in the charge of the Father, the divine Principle of all being, the boastful threats of annihilation were proved harmless. What greater proof could he have given to humanity of the allness of God than his marvelous resurrection and triumphant ascension over all mortality?
No wonder he could declare to mankind with scientific certainty of demonstration, "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). With supreme devotion, he placed all that he said and did upon the great spiritual fact that permanent security is not to be found in matter but in divine Mind. Thus he established for all time to come the workings of divine Principle, whereby the human race can build upon an unshaken foundation which sin, disease, and death can never overthrow and the reign of heaven be demonstrated on earth.
