Every earnest student of Christian Science is learning day by day something more of the nature and availability of infinite power. Whether he grasps the value of this phenomenon quickly or slowly or whether his development appears to be great or small, his thought is necessarily becoming increasingly clear on a vital point. It is this: The power of God, omnipotent good, can be manifested in individual experience only to the extent that one understands God's goodness, trusts in it, loves it, and lives it. Without the concrete expression of Christian goodness, there is no real power or being.
The inspired Scriptures clearly state that man is not a mortal, material being, but is the son of God, His idea, empowered with spiritual dominion, goodness, and completeness. This is the import of the New Testament: if one accepts in his heart the truth of infinite being, in accord with the teachings of the master Christian, Christ Jesus, one can, like the human Jesus, develop unlimited power to prove the spiritual facts of being by healing and blessing mankind.
Obviously, this is not done by the so-called power of the material, or mortal, mind influencing another through the specious action of the human will. Such procedure is but a false sense of power, which our Way-shower identified as "the prince of this world" (John 14:30). Exercising worldly power through self-justification and domination, one loses in spirituality. He lacks the power of good and the ability to express it. Hence life remains an enigma, God a mystery, and man a dying mortal. God, good, infinite intelligence, is the only healer, and solely through spiritual goodness does one reflect the power of God to heal.
