For the past twenty-six years Christian Science has been my only physician and has healed every physical problem. It has been the only curative means for mental stress and strain and has given me the peace which passes understanding. It has been my sole source of guidance in business and has led me to a successful and happy career. It has been my only aid in finding congenial companionship and has blessed me with a happy home and a wide circle of friends. What I understand of this religion is truly my most precious possession.
The problem of loneliness was solved for me through Christian Science in 1943. I had left a campus community where I had many friends, and some of my dearest associates had gone into the armed services. During my first attendance at the Christian Science church in my new community, I met the person who was to be my closest friend from that time on. It reads (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
In the spring of 1945 I was stricken with severe pains in my back, and it was most difficult for me to stand erect. After three months' consecrated study of Christian Science I was completely healed. The healing came about largely through the application of the truths in regard to self-surrender given in an article in the Journal for April, 1945, entitled "The Way of Gethsemane," and through living daily the advice in these lines from the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 360):
