To those wishing to establish or to improve their sense of home, Christian Science gives every help. It reveals that since the spiritual, real man is the son of God, his home is heaven, unassailable harmony. Mrs. Eddy gives two inspiring definitions in the chapter entitled "Glossary" in the textbook, Science and Health, which might well base one's study of home. They read as follows: "Heaven. Harmony; the reign of Spirit; government by divine Principle; spirituality; bliss; the atmosphere of Soul" (p. 587); and, "Kingdom of Heaven. The reign of harmony in divine Science; the realm of unerring, eternal, and omnipotent Mind; the atmosphere of Spirit, where Soul is supreme" (p. 590).
Two students of Christian Science desired to establish a home together. They had prayed earnestly over their decision and felt they could marry only if it would promote the growth Spiritward of each. Their study of Science had shown them that their concern should not be with the physical appointments or location of the home they were to have, but with the Godlike qualities which would most securely constitute their home in consciousness.
The couple studied and pondered the two definitions quoted above, considered deeply our Leader's other references to home in the textbook and in her other writings, and drew up a list of desirable and undesirable mental furnishings for their home. What unfolded to them as a consequence of this work was carefully nurtured until a beautiful and enriching companionship matured. This young man and woman saw manifested in their experience the fruits of obeying the command (Matt. 6:33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness." They trusted God to guide them in all ways.
