NOT DREAMS BUT REALITY

From the September 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science brings harmony into the experiences of those who live in accord with its teachings. This is because it distinguishes between the Adam-dream of life in matter and the spiritual reality of man in God's likeness. But as is the case with the acquisition of facts in any science, knowledge does one no good unless he puts it into practice.

Christian Science not only teaches the spiritual facts of God and man but makes clear how to worship God through strict adherence to the spiritual understanding of these facts. Thus true worship of God is manifested in human experience as health, ability to get along with others, supply to meet daily needs, business and employment that bless mankind, and freedom from fear and worry. These expressions of good come into the lives of Christian Scientists in proportion as they cease to dwell mentally in the mortal dream and begin to live spiritually in the realm of God, divine Mind, which is reality.

Christian Science enables us to prove that existence is wholly mental, that only through consciousness can we be aware of anything. From this premise we must conclude that instead of mortal consciousness being in matter, matter is in mortal consciousness. Science reveals the all-inclusiveness of the divine Mind as the only cause and actuality of being; therefore the consciousness of matter is false, an illusion, a material dream of life.
