I could never begin to express enough gratitude for the spiritual good that has been my reward since turning wholly to Christian Science. That reward has been manifested in financial stability, right companionship, harmony in the home, and the doffing of unlovely character traits, the joy of meeting each new day, and the sense of security.
On page 393 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read: "Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God's government. Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have no pain nor inflammation."
I had the occasion to prove these statements when I inadvertently picked up, with both hands, a kettle from the deep well on top of the electric stove, which had been heated to a high temperature. In that instant there was a shock of pain. I stood and declared aloud the spiritual fact, "It never happened!" The immediacy of that simple declaration and my knowing that God is the source of my real being and that in reality there is no flesh to burn, ache, or be inflamed brought almost instantaneous relief. In ten minutes' time there was no more pain, and never was there a sign of blistering or burn on any finger.
