"NEW EVERY MORNING"

From the January 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Words of themselves without the spirit of understanding are inadequate to express the eternal newness and continuity of goodness which pervade all creation. Christian Science affirms that no idea of God is separated from the ceaseless unfoldment of God's infinite mercy, goodness, and love.

The Apostle Paul describes the perpetual appearing of reality in these words (II Cor. 4:16): "Though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day." The real man, the infinite selfhood of each one of us, is blessed by continuous renewal from its exhaustless source, God, good. Each identity is constituted of the essence or substance of Spirit, God. The completeness, as well as the perfection, of each idea is a fact, because each is the embodiment of God's ceaseless supply or presentment of good.

When the truth that man is complete and perpetually supplied with infinite good is understood and applied, it becomes a law of correction or adjustment to our misconception of man. The belief in defect of body or mind is corrected by the utilization of the Christly truth of perfect spiritual being. There is and can be no lost substance in Spirit or in Spirit's creation. This truth is proved as thought accepts perfect manhood in God as one's only true status. Depletion, deterioration, and decay retreat and disappear as a result of the spiritual understanding of perfect being. Renewal takes place, and that which is not harmonious in our body or experience is cast out.
