CHOOSING THE BEST

From the January 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the seeming struggle between good and evil, the peoples of the Old Testament had experiences which are not unlike those of our present day.

Hymn No. 258 in the Christian Science Hymnal depicts the choice that humanity is called upon to make between good and evil. The first stanza reads:

Oft to every man and nation
Comes the moment to decide,
In the strife of Truth with falsehood,
For the good or evil side.
A great cause, God's new Messiah,
Shows to each the bloom or blight,
So can choice be made by all men
Twixt the darkness and the light.
