THE DIVINE EGO

From the January 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We glimpse the power of the mighty Ego, which is God, Spirit, when we think of the parting of the water of the Red Sea and of Christ Jesus instantly stilling the storm on the Sea of Galilee. We glimpse the loving nature of the Ego when we think of the love manifested by the Master. We glimpse the all-harmonious nature of the Ego when we think of sight, hearing, and voice restored, of the sick healed in Bible times and those healed today through Christian Science.

The more we realize that the all-harmonious Mind, the great I AM, is the Ego, the only doer and knower, and that in our real being we are the man through whom the divine Ego is expressed, the better we do everything and the more sense of ease and joy we have in our activity.

Mortals are inclined to believe in both a good and an evil ego, but their belief in an evil ego—an evil manifested in storms, catastrophes, sickness, sin, lack, and death— is often greater than their faith in the activity of good. The understanding that Mind is the power of the universe and is altogether good helps to lift one above sin, sickness, and other discordant conditions.
