RECEPTIVITY TO THE LIGHT OF TRUTH

From the January 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Omniscient Mind is forever at the standpoint of infinite, spiritual illumination. Mrs. Eddy writes in "Retrospection and Introspection" (p. 56): "All consciousness is Mind, and Mind is God. Hence there is but one Mind; and that one is the infinite good, supplying all Mind by the reflection, not the subdivision, of God."

Christian Science teaches that man is the reflection of divine Mind, the expression or emanation of infinite, all-inclusive Spirit. He is the perfect effect of the one perfect cause and can express only that which is the nature of this cause.

From a human point of view, it is essential that one be receptive to these truths of God and man, for such receptivity is the open door to the healing Christ, Truth. Receptivity is engendered by a great hunger and longing for Truth and by a humility that willingly lays down the mortal sense of things, including preconceived opinions and prejudices.
