Poems

And now

From the September 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Jesus' time, so now. And in this hour,
Self offered up, leaves love the space to flower.
Thus was it for those workers by the sea
Who fished, who rowed the boats on Galilee;
Who read the sky, the wind, the flight of bird,
And cherished every healing phrase they heard.

It could be now, with time all telescoped.
They sat and listened. All that they had groped
For in the dark now suddenly came clear.
They listened with their heart and so could hear
Those vital words—not fancy, not involved—
Which meant for them, for us, each problem solved.
