EXPRESSING GOD-GIVEN JOY

From the September 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"The ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away" (Isa. 35:10). To obtain this state of spiritual bliss and rejoicing, we must lift our thought above matter or error to the understanding of God's allness and of man, made in His image. The realization that man is the likeness of God and one with Him brings to the human individual a sense of rejoicing.

Man is an idea in divine Mind and reflects all the qualities of this Mind. Joy is one of the qualities of Spirit, God. Man possesses it by reflection.

The individual's expression of spiritual joy is the appearing of the Christ in human consciousness, the understanding of man's purity and sinlessness as the image and likeness of his heavenly Father-Mother God.
