After his resurrection Jesus told his disciples, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15). Everyone who tries to follow in the way that Jesus taught is a disciple or student of the Master, and therefore what he said to the disciples and followers of his day applies equally to Christians of today.
Much earlier Jesus had directed his disciples to go "to the lost sheep of the house of Israel," and had added: "As ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give" (Matt. 10:6-8).
How can we today follow these commands? First, it will be necessary for us to understand what Jesus meant when he said, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 291), "Heaven is not a locality, but a divine state of Mind in which all the manifestations of Mind are harmonious and immortal, because sin is not there and man is found having no righteousness of his own, but in possession of 'the mind of the Lord,' as the Scripture says."
