With what wonder and with what timid—almost unbelieving—hope have Christ Jesus' words as recorded by the beloved disciple John been received, "If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death" (John 8:51).
"Never see death"! Those three words resounded in the writer's thought at the time of the passing of a loved member of her family, and her interpretation of them as a divine command immediately lifted from her all sense of grief. Later she was able to recall just how she had been led to that moment's healing realization.
In her study of Christian Science the writer had noticed that Mrs. Eddy quotes this Bible verse on of Science and Healthpage 429 and then says: "That statement is not confined to spiritual life, but includes all the phenomena of existence. Jesus demonstrated this, healing the dying and raising the dead."
