Assuring us of God's bountiful provision, Mrs. Eddy has stated in the Manual of The Mother Church (Art. VIII, Sect. 15), "God requires our whole heart, and He supplies within the wide channels of The Mother Church dutiful and sufficient occupation for all its members." This has been proved true in my experience. When left without near relatives, I turned to the spiritual concept of Church to fill what appeared to be a void in my life, and there, in activity in a branch church, I found home, family, and friendship in the highest sense.
I have been privileged to serve a branch church in many ways; but an understanding of Church has served and supported me in far greater measure, and I humbly acknowledge my gratitude for Mrs. Eddy and for her revelation that Church is indeed "the structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle" (Science and Health, p. 583).
An experience of great value in showing God's healing power took place several years ago. I was visiting a relative in her mountain cabin far from my home when I was seized with frightening heart attacks. I did my best not to yield to fear, but I soon realized that I needed help. In the Journal I found the name of a Christian Science practitioner residing in the nearest town, and I took a bus down into the valley, not letting my relative know that anything was amiss, because I did not wish to alarm her.
