"MIND CAN DO IT"

From the February 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is normal for individuals to desire to attain perfection in their chosen fields. Christ Jesus gave this command: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" (Matt. 5:48). However, mere human will or personal drive does not fulfill this admonition. Only as we realize that man is the reflection of his perfect Father, God, are we able to demonstrate the ability to accomplish all good.

Christian Science teaches that the real man is at one with God, Mind; he reflects the impulse of Love and the accomplishment of wisdom. Thought and impulse, accomplishment and action, originate in Mind. When we have the impulse to do good, we know that we are reflecting God. And the goal toward which we are working is actually already accomplished in Mind.

Because man is at one with God, he is at one with perfect activity and accomplishment. It is not necessary, therefore, for man to acquire perfection or fulfillment; he possesses these already because they are established in infinite Mind, which man reflects. Mrs. Eddy states on page 68 of Science and Health, "Christian Science presents unfoldment, not accretion; it manifests no material growth from molecule to mind, but an impartation of the divine Mind to man and the universe."
