CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS DO NOT IGNORE EVIL

From the February 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Once in a while you run across somebody who says: "Christian Scientists? Oh, yes, they're those people who say, 'You're not sick; you just think you are.'" Nothing could be farther from a definition of a real Christian Scientist.

The basis of a Christian Scientist's understanding and convictions is found in the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. In the latter, the Christian Science textbook, Mrs. Eddy says (p. 460): "Sickness is neither imaginary nor unreal,—that is, to the frightened, false sense of the patient. Sickness is more than fancy; it is solid conviction. It is therefore to be dealt with through right apprehension of the truth of being."

Sometimes you hear something like this: "I feel very sick, but I'll just do as the Christian Scientists do—ignore it." Christian Scientists do not ignore sickness. They heal it!
