As a Christian Scientist of the second generation, I am profoundly grateful for Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and for her revelation of it to this age.
When I was seventeen my father passed on, leaving me with the responsibility of supporting my mother. Each step of the way I was encouraged and assisted by friends, practitioners, and the loving members of an active branch church.
The opportunity to enter college was later possible for me, and I worked my way through. During this time I received the prayerful assistance of a practitioner in the healing of an eye difficulty and in the overcoming of some of the difficulties that challenge a university student. A Christian Science organization was formed on the campus in my second year, and active participation in it gave me a sense of direction and of belonging, which was a guiding influence in many ways.
