Jesus knew that his kingdom was not of this world. He said (Luke 17:21), "The kingdom of God is within you"; in other words, it is attainable in proportion to one's understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him. The mighty works of Jesus were the result of this understanding. He knew who he was, and he claimed his true identity as the reflection of his source. To fulfill this claim, he denied the material sense of life and sacrificed material selfhood for the divine likeness.
The theology and practice of Christian Science demonstrate the teachings of the Master. By calling God divine Principle, Mrs. Eddy reveals Him as the primal cause of all creation, man and the universe.
Christian Science teaches that perfect God and perfect man, perfect cause and perfect effect, must be the basis of thought if one is to demonstrate scientific being and healing. In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 353): "Perfection underlies reality. Without perfection, nothing is wholly real. All things will continue to disappear, until perfection appears and reality is reached. We must give up the spectral at all points."
