I want to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science and for having been brought up from babyhood in a home where it is cherished and practiced. I have seen many healings take place in our home through the study and application of the truths of Science. Defective eyesight, convulsions, scarlet fever, yellow jaundice, quinsy, a wart, an injury caused by stepping on a nail protruding from an old plank, and influenza have been completely healed. In Romans we read (8:2), "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." I am grateful for the freedom I experienced from so-called children's diseases.
I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School at three years of age and continued to attend until I was twenty. What I learned there has proved a steady influence for good and has equipped me spiritually and morally.
I should like to tell of an instance of protection I experienced. I was cycling in mountain country, and having taken a wrong turning, I found the downhill road petering out into a rough, stony track. The gradient became very steep and led to a sheer drop of forty feet or more to a river. Before I knew this, the bicycle was spinning downwards out of control, and to apply the brakes would mean my being thrown over the handlebars near the cliff edge.
