Christian Science has so transformed my life for the better that I feel impelled to share this unfoldment with others who may be searching for the truth.
About thirteen years ago, when I was without proper employment or a permanent home and had a young son to bring up single-handed, Christian Science was presented to me. At that time I did not believe in answered prayer; but I sometimes longed to know what unseen power controlled the universe. I was concerned that my son have a spiritual education, but I did not feel that orthodox religions held the answer. However, our Leader tells us on page 2 of Science and Health, "The unspoken desire does bring us nearer the source of all existence and blessedness."
At this time I was led to work with some sincere Christian Scientists and was immediately impressed by the joyous outlook and poise which they expressed in their daily living. I was interested in finding out the reason for this, and eventually I was taken to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. Even now I can remember the wonderful feeling of homecoming I had as I entered the church building and read the words, "God is Love," on the wall. Afterwards I borrowed a copy of Science and Health; and as I started to absorb the truths and clear reasoning it contained, I knew I had found the way. Since then I have progressed joyfully to membership in The Mother Church and active membership in a society. I have also had the uplifting experience of class instruction.
