Christian Science was first presented to me by a friend while I was in a hospital taking the training course for nurses. At first I doubted and disbelieved the Christian Science healings of which my friend told me. I was much troubled by ivy poisoning, depression, loneliness, hopelessness, and a sense of lack. I had left my family and a happy home life to come to America.
Finally I decided to go to a Christian Science practitioner. She showed me how to study the Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Quarterly, from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She also healed me of the ivy poisoning by explaining to me two separate stories of creation related in the first and second chapters of Genesis, showing me that in the true record in the first chapter God made everything very good, and therefore He did not make any poisonous plants.
During my first reading of Science and Health, several physical ailments disappeared. Colds, headaches, and mental depression vanished, and an enlarged thyroid gland became normal.
