I am one who was healed by reading the Christian Science textbook by Mrs. Eddy. The healings I received were those of gallstones, kidney stones, stomach trouble, constipation, and other ailments, along with discouragement and frustration. I did not read the book with physical healing in mind, but to overcome the desire to commit suicide. When these healings took place, I do not know, but after reading almost night and day for two weeks, I was reminded one day by a member of my family that I should not eat a certain kind of food, because it would make me ill. It was then that I realized that I had been healed; in fact, I was quite surprised that it was even mentioned that food would harm me.
Later I was instantaneously healed of a sick headache when a friend reminded me of these words on page 468 of the textbook: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter." I knew that since there is no truth in matter, there is no truth in a physical body or in any part of it.
As I continued to study, I gained peace and the assurance of God's loving care and protection for me. I also began to attend a Christian Science church, and I found new friends, two of whom were a great help to me at times when things went wrong. They helped me to use the truths of Science. Soon I had the blessed privilege of joining The Mother Church and a branch church; then followed class instruction by an authorized teacher of Christian Science.
