I am happy to witness to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. In rearing a family of eight children, my husband and I have found it to be a constant friend in need.
Our daughter was healed very quickly of severe abdominal pain after she had been suffering for several days without telling us lest she be forced to miss a high school dance. On the night of the dance, however, she was in such pain that her illness was obvious to us. Within a half hour of the time a Christian Science practitioner was asked to give her treatment, she was comfortable and asleep, and she has not had a recurrence of the trouble.
On another occasion, one of our boys, then about two or three years of age, fell backward from the top of his bunk-bed ladder, striking his head against a door as he fell. Although we had no X-ray pictures taken and no physical examination made, he quite obviously either broke or dislocated something in his neck, because he was in extreme pain and unable to control his head. For twenty-four hours there was no apparent change in his condition, although a practitioner had been called immediately and was praying for him. The morning after his fall, I called the practitioner to report that there was no change in his condition and was told by her that she had a clear feeling that the healing had been accomplished and that all that was needed was for us to see and acknowledge it. She reminded me of these lines from Hymn No. 269 in the Christian Science Hymnal:
