Response

From the September 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

But "who am I?" Thus Moses' meek protest,
Reluctant to assume the task at hand.
How gently reassuring Love's command:
I go with thee. Obedience the test.

And "who am I?" rose David's humble cry,
"That thou hast brought me hitherto?" Serene
To listening heart Love's tender, I have been
Wherever thou hast walked. All good is nigh.

"Whom say ye that I am?" The Master's plea
Straightway brought proof that one indeed perceived
The deathless Christ and blessing high received;
Beheld the rock, true based identity.

"Who am I?" may still arise in thought;
Some timid sense suggest yet more delay.
Unready—or unwilling? Love's clear way
Shines radiantly for you: Love's plan is wrought.
