Over fifty years ago, while reading for the first time the chapter on Prayer in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I knew I had found what I was looking for. Later, when I began to study the Lesson-Sermons, given in the Quarterly, the Bible was opened up to me, and the experience was like being given a fresh, cold drink of water when one is very thirsty.
I had many small healings: a wart on my face, ivy poisoning, and boils. A severe cold vanished after I had studied the lesson through the night till four in the morning.
During the years of the economic depression, all our property was swept away. My faith in the truth of Christian Science met every need, and in a time of widespread unemployment I got back into business. Though having a great struggle, I was able to carry on until our children were established in business.
